Fire doors are one of the important measures for fire separation in buildings. In addition to the function of ordinary doors, fire doors also require the ability to isolate smoke and fire, prevent the spread of fire and smoke, and ensure the safety of personnel evacuation. Therefore, strict requirements must be placed on it.

Fire doors are usually divided into wooden fire doors, steel fire doors, steel wood fire doors, and other material fire doors. According to the national "New Standard for Fire Doors" GB12955-2008, fire doors are divided into three levels: A, B, and C. According to the classification of levels, the fire resistance insulation and fire integrity standards are: at a high temperature of about 900 ℃, the fire resistance limit of Class A fire doors is not less than 1.5 hours, Class B is not less than 1.0 hour, and Class C is not less than 0.5 hour. Grade A doors are generally used in important places, such as distribution rooms, transformer rooms, boiler rooms, etc. in high-rise buildings. Class B doors are also the most commonly used fire doors, commonly used in evacuation routes and stairwells. Class C gates are generally used in locations such as pipeline wells. The specific applications are as follows:

Class A fireproof door

1. The highest level of fire separation (firewall, fire compartment, atrium, etc.)

2. Doors in densely populated areas (cinemas, auditoriums, etc.)

3. Important warehouse doors (confidential room, archive room, etc.)

4. Doors for fire related equipment (transformer room, distribution room, etc.)

5. Doors for non fire related important equipment (such as air conditioning rooms, refrigeration rooms, etc.)

Class B fire door

1. Open doors at safety exits (enclosed stairwells, smoke proof stairwells, front rooms, etc.)

2. Halls and room doors of entertainment buildings (KTV, amusement halls, etc.)

3. Rooms or places with high fire hazards (kitchens in public buildings, attached warehouses in civil buildings, etc.)

4. Rooms (places) used by vulnerable groups (operating rooms, delivery rooms, etc.)

5. Functional control scale zoning (between nursing units in hospitals, etc.)

6. Equipment room (fire control room, etc.)

7. When the distance between doors and windows on both sides of the fireproof partition wall is insufficient, alternative measures should be taken

8. For residential buildings larger than 54m but less than 100m, each household shall have a room door with a shelter function and an external window.

Class C fireproof door

1. Vertical shaft protection (such as pipe well doors)

2. Internally connected doors and doors of equipment rooms that open to the outside (such as transformer and distribution rooms)

Fire door opening and closing method

Fire doors are divided into two types based on their opening status: normally open and normally closed, and both types must be opened in the direction of evacuation.

Normally open fire doors are equipped with release devices or automatic linkage door closers, which are generally installed in places with large crowds and high flow of people, such as schools, large shopping malls, hospitals, etc. They should be in an open state under normal circumstances, making it convenient for people to enter and exit. However, in the event of a fire, the release device or linkage door closer will receive an alarm signal and automatically close, blocking the fire and thick smoke.

A normally closed fire door is in a closed state with a door closing structure that has a rebound function. When personnel pass through, they push it open, and after passing, the door leaf automatically closes under the action of the door closer. Generally installed in stairwells and evacuation corridors with relatively few personnel, normally closed fire doors can effectively delay the spread of fire and smoke in the event of a fire, winning valuable time for personnel evacuation.
